Childcare offer for Wales

What is it?

The Childcare Offer in Wales is a government initiative designed to support working parents by providing access to free childcare for children aged 3 to 4 years. The program aims to help parents balance work and family commitments while ensuring children receive high-quality early education.
Key features of the Childcare Offer include:
  • Free childcare: Parents can access up to 30 hours of free childcare per week for eligible children, typically for up to 48 weeks a year.
  • Flexibility: The offer can be used in various settings, including private nurseries, maintained nursery schools, and childminders.
  • Eligibility: It is available to working parents, including those who are self-employed, and usually requires both parents (or a single parent) to be working a minimum number of hours.

The Childcare Offer is part of a broader effort to support families, promote early childhood education, and improve the work-life balance for parents.
