New Face at Bryncynon Strategy
Bryncynon Strategy has a new face in the guise of their recently appointed CEO, Anthony Brito. The Strategy which is a Registered Charity has delivered a mighty social impact with a wide range of community projects over the past 20 years or so. Anthony’s plan is to ensure that this continues.
“Bryncynon Strategy has done fantastic work over an area much wider than the Lower Cynon Valley, from where we started and are based. But now, with a tougher climate for funding, we will focus on consolidating and strengthening our work, directing our attention towards our more local communities and building on a strong sense of community ownership. In this way our work will respond to local needs and it will be easier to show the difference that we are making in people’s lives”.
Bryncynon Strategy is well known for its quality work, with its Early Years Project – running five Flying Start Centres. It has also won awards, including for work with: young people; its Healthy Living Centre and a range of health and well-being projects; together with its environment project at the Green Valley Community Garden.
Local people from the Lower Cynon Valley area have always been engaged with Bryncynon Strategy and the potential for volunteering, skills development and employment is still huge. In fact, volunteers have been a key factor in the success of Bryncynon Strategy, which currently has around 30 volunteers regularly working alongside the paid staff.
Anthony, who has spent more than 30 years in management across private, public and third sectors, is keen to get out and meet people after starting in his new post in mid-August. Based at the Feel Good Factory in Ynysboeth, he plans to ensure that the local community, as well as the various service providers in the area feel good about Bryncynon Strategy. “We plan to be seen as not only an important part of the local community, but also an indispensable partner to all those delivering quality services to the area and its people.”
