Young people had a fab day out Fishing. This was in partnership with Fernhill Youth Project and this was an activity picked by the young people. Great experience for staff. We also had great support from a young person’s parent Jason Meaden who attended the day and was a fantastic help to the young people as he has a great background of fishing.
Young people went to Dan-yr-ogaf for 1 night camping. They had the experience of working as a team, building their tents, cooking, team building activities and then followed by a trip to Brecon promenade to experience peddle boats. This was a great experience in staying out overnight in a different environment to home.
Young people were involved in a community fun day. This was held at the feel good factory. Young people really enjoyed the Graffiti and the magician at the fun day
Young people enjoyed a day out Go-Karting.
The young people participated in a day out Gorge walking. The young people who participated never taken part in this activity. Young people were nervous and scared throughout the morning, come the afternoon they were really enjoying this. They said it’s the best thing they have experienced in a while. Their confidence throughout the day grew massively and the youth workers were very proud of what they achieved for the day.
Young people had a day out to Pontypridd Quad Biking, they experience riding the quads on a number of different tracks/routes throughout the day. All young people had a fantastic day and the weather was great for the activity
Fire Service Programme
The fire service came in for a two week programme with our young people.
This covered crimes and consequences of the actions and involved various videos and workshops on safety, fires, car incidents and lots more.
The Programme was well enjoyed by all the Young people, getting to try on all the equipment involved in being a fire fighter was well recieved by the young people, with lots of laughter going on whilst educatin them of what fire fighters have to go through to get ready for an emergency.
This programme was delivered FREE of charge and the gentleman who delivered this was fantastic with the young people.
Young people every Tuesday take part in football sessions @ Abercynon Sports Centre 5-6pm. A football coach attends also funded by communities first where the young people play 5 a side games.
Every Friday in Aberdare 5-7pm the young people also participate in football training sessions and 5 a side games. This is linked in as part of Cardiff City.
We have hairdressing sessions in youth which both girls and boys enjoy which is great for them to do different hair styling on the heads and each other.
Young people participated in a sponsor walk to pen-y-fan in August. This was working in partnership with DOFE. All young people did really well in the walk and all sponsorships made was split between cancer re-search charity and the ghost night overstay for the young people. Everyone enjoyed the walk.
Communities first funded a 10 week Zumba/ Hula hoop blast sessions for youth club. All young people enjoyed every week and both girls and boys participated in this.
Young people from the youth club did a Sponsor Stay Awake for Children in Need on Friday 7th November. This was in Partnership with a Merthyr Youth Group – The Willows Centre Troedyrhiw. The young people from Bryncynon raised £137.95 & the other youth provision raised £227.00, total of £364.95. Well done to all young people who took part in the sponsor and thanks to the other young people from the youth who donated into the collection bucket we had in club too.
Young people have participated in 3 Street Games Events, 1 in Merthyr Tydfil, 1 in Cardiff, and 1 in Caerphilly. All young people have enjoyed everyone and took part in various sporting activities. These have been on weekends and the young people enjoyed all the activities.
Young people got involved in the fun day run by Bryncynon Strategy where they participated in many roles to raise funds for youth club re-sources.
The did loom band making, balloon modelling, Glitter tattoos, and advertised youth club to other young people who may want to join.
The young people also made 2 Graffiti boards to put up their youth club and did a fantastic job of this.
Young people @ Christmas went to Swansea Winter Wonderland. All young people had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the ice skating.
Craig-y-Nos Castle Ghost Tour
The young people took part in an overnight stay at the Craig Y Nos Castle on Wednesday 29th October 2014, all young people walked Pen-y-fan to raise money for Cancer Re-Search and part funded this Overnight stay at the Castle which the young people wanted to do. Well done to all young people yet again
